Specific Ministries of Women of the ELCA
Women of the ELCA grants program
Write grants program in your check memo line.
Your designated gift
to the Women of the ELCA grants program goes in total to support our annual
domestic and international grants. These grants represent one important way in
which we fulfill our organizational commitment to "promote healing and wholeness
in the church, the society, and the world." Because of your generous gifts, the
grants program has been able to award nearly $3 million since 1988. Yet each
year, the requests for grant funding far exceed the resources available. Your
designated contribution will ensure that we can increase the number and amount
of grants to projects and agencies both here and around the world that are
dedicated to education, health care, and justice, emboldening women and girls to
live healthier lives. To see a list of past grant recipients,

Raising Up
Healthy Women and Girls health initiative
Write
health initiative in your check memo line.
Women of the ELCA is
leading boldly in promoting women's complete and total health: emotional,
physical, and spiritual. This health initiative was launched at the Sixth
Triennial Gathering in 2005 and will continue into the next triennium. The
initiative allows us to provide resources and events that help women create
holistically healthy communities and develop healthy leaders by educating,
sharing, motivating, and advocating. Read more about our
health initiative.

To contribute a designated gift to either of these ministries of Women of
the ELCA, make your check payable to Women of the ELCA, writing the
program name and number on your check memo line. Give your check to your Women
of the ELCA treasurer, or mail it to Women of the ELCA Designated Gifts, P.O.
Box 71256, Chicago, IL 60694-1256. (Note: Treasurer, use the green
form B to submit a
designated gift.)
Specific Ministries of the ELCA
When we collectively give gifts to these designated ministries, we support the ELCA’s efforts to go where we cannot.
All gifts designated for a ministry will be forwarded in total to that ministry.
In order to meet the greatest need, ministry categories may change for the next
triennium.
ELCA World Hunger Program
Program No. 555 (through September 2008)
Your gifts will help eliminate hunger and its root causes through education,
health care, employment opportunities, and community development.
Reaching Out with
the Gospel
Program No. 513 (through September 2008)
The ELCA has more opportunities for starting new ministries than can be
funded by the ELCA budget. Often these opportunities exist in the new North
American mission field — places where there is no congregation nearby to
underwrite the start-up costs. Your gifts will be designated for a setting where
outreach among women and children in poverty is a significant opportunity.
Missionary Support
Program No. 570
(through September 2008)
Share the gospel of kindness and justice even where you are unable to go.
Your gift to missionary support honors the long tradition of women's missionary
societies. Your gift will help ELCA missionaries share the good news of Jesus
Christ in word and in action.
Lutheran World Relief
Program No. 515(through September 2008)
For more than 50 years, Lutheran World Relief (LWR) has helped Lutherans
give material aid by the tons to neighbors around the world. LWR supports some
150 development projects in health care, education, agriculture, leadership, and
training. Your contributions will assist LWR in continuing this much-needed
ministry.
To contribute a designated gift to one of these four ministries of the ELCA, make your check payable to Women of the ELCA, writing the program name and number on your check memo line.
