What We Do
Monday Prayer at Noon

Monday Prayer at Noon is a creation of the Lutheran Women's Cooperating Committee. LWCC is comprised of leadership of the women's organizations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the Lutheran Church in Canada, and the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The committee comes together to "seek the best available knowledge and practice for addressing its issues and opportunities."

Esther PrabhakarHelp for your prayer ministry
Esther Prabhakar, a Women of the ELCA participant, shares an idea for developing your prayer life in this MOSAIC segment on scrapbooking and prayer. Also available here.

Getting started
The scrapbooking section was taken from a larger video on prayer. Use the complete video, which opens with scenes from the Women of the ELCA 2005 Triennial Gathering in San Antonio,  to get a prayer ministry started in your congregation. It explores Scripture as well as Martin Luther's thoughts on prayer. You may also order it from MOSAIC.

August 11
Pray for children, that they may have more giggles than worries, more smiles than "too busy" responses, more joy than pain.
Give thanks for the wisdom of the ages and for all "wise women" who so willingly mentor others.
Pray for food pantries and all ministries that provide for the needs of others when they cannot provide for their own.

August 18
Pray for the environment and your part in respecting and maintaining it.
Give thanks for planet Earth and its rich resources.
Pray for young adults preparing to begin their college or university education, for their parents as they make this transition in families, and for staff who will work with and shape them in their education endeavors.

August 25
Pray for God's comfort and strength for all who mourn.
Give thanks for one more picnic, trip to the beach, family reunion, day in the sun, road trip, or put-your-feet-up day before fall programming starts.
Pray for yourself, that you may discern God's gifts and call in your life.

September 1
Pray for Women of the ELCA units as they renew their ministry efforts for the fall and winter.
Give thanks for the gifts women share in their homes, congregations, communities, and places where they volunteer and work.
Pray for butchers and bakers and candlestick makers, and for all who provide through their livelihood for themselves, their families, and the work of the church and women's organization.

September 8
Pray for women meeting in convention this week in the Southeastern and Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synods.
Give thanks for vacation-time stories, family memories, scary stories shared around the campfire, the willingness of children/spouse/family to share their stories with you, and the gospel story.
Pray for all who are fearful of telling the story of God's love, that they may be filled with joy and peace and the capacity to share this story with others.

September 15
Pray for women gathering in convention this week in the Metropolitan New York and Northern Illinois Synods.
Give thanks for peacemakers.
Pray on September 21, International Day of Prayer for Peace, and all this week, that the world may know God's peace.

September 22
Pray for women meeting in convention this week in the Southwestern Texas and Minneapolis Area Synods.
Give thanks for all who are working to end human trafficking, abuse, and violence.
Pray for women starting new units of Women of the ELCA, that they may become a strong community in support of one another to name and claim their ministries locally and globally.

September 29
Pray for authors: those who write devotions, Bible studies, educational materials, training manuals, joke books, novels, and more, that their efforts may be beneficial to their readers.
Give thanks for your congregation's Sunday school staff, education committee, and youth leadership.
Pray for the ambulatory and those who cannot walk, those who show you the way and those who do not see, those who listen and those who cannot hear, those who sing praises and those who have no voice.
