Crossroads of the West Tour
Salt
Lake City was built out of a desert by industrious pioneers. This tour
is a complete look at what makes Salt Lake City so unique. Begin in the
historic downtown area, including the world-famous Mormon Temple Square.
Next visit the beautifully restored 1908 Union Pacific Depot, Olympic
Legacy Plaza, and the Utah State Capitol, also beautifully restored.
Next, drive through the residential area known as the Avenues, listed on
the State and National Historic Registers. We continue past Fort
Douglas, which was started during Abraham Lincoln's administration in
1862, and on to This Is The Place Heritage Park, where Brigham Young
said, "This is the right place, drive on." Finish with a visit to the
Olympic Cauldron Park at Rice Eccles Stadium, site of the opening and
closing ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
