The Rev. April Ulring Larson is our choral leader for "Come to the Waters." She will lead the choral workshops and the choir during Sunday's closing worship service. Be sure to sign up for the choir on your registration form, as well as the required choral workshop.

Bishop Larson, a woman of  many bold "firsts," is much beloved throughout our organization. After receiving her music degree, she taught choral music for several years but soon felt the call to ministry. She and her husband, Judd, were the first married couple to attend Wartburg Theological Seminary together, and she was one of the first women to graduate from Wartburg. She and her husband were one of the first couples to work together in parish ministry, serving as co-pastors in several churches in Iowa. In 1992, Larson was elected bishop of the LaCrosse Area Synod.

Bishop Larson has remained passionate about music throughout her career. She has served as a choral director and song leader at several Global Mission Events and at the ELCA's celebration of the 20th anniversary of the ordination of women.
