"I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or
dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
These are powerful words that the Lord gives us, perfect
words for women acting boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ. These words are
God's command — not a suggestion, not a gentle reminder, but a bold declaration.
Certainly being strong and courageous involves risk. And
risks need to be taken no matter what stage of life we are in — we must always
be open to new opportunities to serve. The Women of the ELCA purpose statement
encourages us to "grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our
callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in
the church, the society, and the world."
This organization supports women of all ages who strive to be
bold leaders through such resources as the Interchange/Intercambio
newsletter and other resources that encourage bold leadership and nourish our
faith journey, both as individuals and as a community of women.
As we take God's words to heart, we are strong and
courageous. We are left with a wonderful promise, a promise that our Lord will
be with us wherever we go.
Offering prayer: Dear Lord, empower us to faithfully
serve you with boldness. Enable us to be risk-takers on paths not yet
discovered. Assure us of your presence every step of the way. Amen.
Offering focus: Your offerings support our monthly
newsletter, Interchange, and other leadership resources for Women of the
ELCA in congregations and synodical women's organizations.
