Last night we prayed for those killed because of natural and human-made disasters; for those whose lives were upturned, whatever the cause; for those who worked tirelessly through the night to care for others. Today we offer financial support for clean-up and after-care.

Katie's Fund

Ask women why they support Katie’s Fund, and one answer comes up again and again: They love Katie. Or, Katharina von Bora Luther, to be more precise.

“We never knew anything about her before,” said Marie Tesch, a longtime Katie’s Fund donor from Waseca, Minn.

The churchwide executive board of Women of the ELCA met April 20-21, 2013, at the Lutheran Center, Chicago, Il., receiving recommendations from the 2013 Conference of Synodical Presidents, designating offerings for the Ninth Triennial Convention and the 2014 Triennial Gathering and adopting proposed rules of procedure for the next triennial convention, among other things.

Women of the ELCA's communication efforts have been recognized with five awards from the Religion Communicators Council, including one Best of Class.

Cafe and Gather, two magazines of Women of the ELCA, were honored by the Associated Church Press this week.
