Celebrating 300 Years of Lutheran Ministry in India

Let’s go to India! (Virtually, of course)

Picture of the Taj MahalA delegation of our Lutheran sisters and brothers are in India celebrating 300 years of Lutheran missions in that country. ELCA employees, leaders, and members of ELCA churches that are companions to churches in India are in Chennai (formerly Madras) and Tranquebar through July 10 to celebrate 300 years of Lutheran ministry in India.

Read more about the schedule and the ELCA participants.

Travelers with that delegation are posting their thoughts and reflections on the Web by way of a blog (shorthand for "Web log" — you might think of it as a diary on the Web). We invite you to check the blog frequently and follow the delegation as they travel.

Celebration in IndiaWe also invite you to ask your church secretary to put a notice in your Sunday announcements and church newsletter to let members know about this blog (http://lutheransinindia.blogspot.com/) and the exciting celebration of 300 years of Lutheranism in India, and to keep this group of travelers and the Lutheran Church in India in your prayers.

Women of the ELCA participants on the trip include Ruth Fairchild, vice president of the Northern Illinois Synodical Women's Organization; Terri Lackey, managing editor, Lutheran Woman Today magazine; and Esther Prabhakar, vice president, Northern Illinois Synod, ELCA.
