CSE Resolution

BE IT RESOLVED that the Sixth Triennial Convention of Women of the ELCA affirm the synodical women’s organizations and local units who are currently actively working in various ways to combat the many forms of commercial sexual exploitation; and be it further

RESOLVED that all expressions of Women of the ELCA be encouraged to expand their involvement in addressing this issue and to collaborate where possible with organizations such as Adults Saving Kids, the ELCA state public policy offices, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services (LIRS), ECPAT-USA and other child advocacy organizations (both domestic and international), by utilizing their resources and participating in their training programs and building a wall of safety around young people everywhere; and be it further

RESOLVED that synodical women’s organizations be encouraged to explore how they might work with women in their companion synod churches in stopping commercial sexual exploitation; and be it further

RESOLVED that the churchwide expression of Women of the ELCA continue to provide information and promote resources that assist women in combating commercial sexual exploitation, both domestically and globally, and to continue to incorporate this issue into its planning for the 2005–2008 triennium, including a review of the "Wise as Serpents" curriculum ...
