A life of service (to date, that is)

kris photoI am finding myself at a crossroad.  I do not know what the future has in store for me, but I trust that God has a plan and it will be revealed to me at the proper time. Why do I find myself at a crossroad?  It’s because this is my final year of service to Women of the ELCA as a churchwide executive board member.Serving on the churchwide board has been a wonderful experience for me.  It has also been the perfect place for me to be the best I can be, in service to this organization and to its church. Women of the ELCA has been a big part of most of my adult life.  In the beginning, it was not a very big part, but it didn’t take long before I was serving as a leader in my unit and then in various leadership positions within my synodical women’s organization.

Now I see “the end” of my current service, but I don’t think it really is THE end.  God has put me on this path, a life of service, and I don’t think God is done with me yet.

I have learned something throughout these years of service, too.  God keeps putting me in positions of leadership that have term limits, but when each term has passed, God has found somewhere else or some other way for me to serve, I just didn’t know where or how that would be ahead of time.

I have also learned that I have leadership skills that I didn’t know I had back in my younger adult life, and God has shown me how to use them to benefit God through organizations such as Women of the ELCA.

I don’t know what the future has in store for me next, but I do know that God is faithful, and God will find just the right place to use me (again), but that’s not a surprise, is it?  God does the same thing for you, too!

So true Kris. Thinking of you and all the other board members who are at the same crossroad. New opportunities for you will surely come and new people will rise up to serve. God is faithful. Thank you for your service to our group.

Debbie,

Thanks for your comments and kind well wishes. In less than 2 hours I will be attending my last board meeting with the 2011-2014 churchwide executive board. Tomorrow we start our important work at the convention. Please continue to keep the out-going board members and all of the current board, as well as the triennial delegates, as we have important issues to debate and act on!

As for the crossroad I find myself at, it will be exciting to see where God leads me next!

Thank you, good and faithful servant. God does have a plan for each of us and sometimes those plans are revealed to us when we least expect it. God’s blessings to all of you who gather in Charlotte on this first day of the triennial convention. I am with you all in Spirit.

Paula,

Thank you for being with us in Spirit. It is encouraging to know so many women like you and Debbie (an earlier commentor on my post) are remembering us during this week of business, fellowship and fun.
