The board model for mission is one of six sample models that may be modified according to your unit's needs and plans. The board model has two to four officers and two to six committee chairs who are board members. The board plans the programs for the women, handles the communication and selects the materials to be used.
The
structure is
effective in
disseminating
information
and is
usually well
defined. |

This model works well for the functioning of continuing subgroups.
The weakness of the model is its lack of flexibility. It can be difficult to change structure quickly to respond to the changing needs of your organization. It may also create a feeling among the women in your congregation that they are "in" or "out," depending on their involvement with the organization. Channels of communication generally work well from the top down, but they may be less effective from the bottom up.
