With joy and
thanksgiving
Even
though we're
in the dog
days of
summer, let
me share with
you a winter
snow story
about
Thankofferings.
As a young
woman, Gail
had been
visiting her
parents and
set out in
the middle of
a snow storm
to return to
her home,
despite the
worried
protestations
of her
mother. The
trip proved
very
difficult,
but she
eventually
arrived home
safely, late
in the
evening.
Grateful for
her safe
journey, she
added a few
dollars to
her
Thankoffering
box that
rested on the
kitchen
windowsill
and headed to
bed. The next
morning she
called her
mother to let
her know she
had arrived
home safely,
despite the
snow storm
that had
closed most
highways.
Gail's
mother, who
had worried
the whole
night
through, then
added a $20
dollar bill
to her
Thankoffering
box!
At last
month’s
triennial
gathering we
held what
we’ve called
‘the world’s
largest
Thankoffering
service.’
It’s not too
late for you
to
participant
in that
Thankoffering
service. Just
like Gail and
her mother,
you can
respond in
joy and
thanksgiving
when making a
Thankoffering
gift. Give
generously
and this can
be your first
bold act in
the new Act
boldly
triennium.
Thankoffering
gifts
received up
until Labor
Day will be
credited to
our "world’s
largest
Thankoffering
service."
Please note
