It's time to Worship Boldly!

Participants at this month's Triennial Gathering received a copy of Worship Boldly, the first new worship resource for the women's organization since 1993. Worship Boldly relates especially to the theme of this triennium, Act boldly, helping women explore this theme through song, prayer and liturgy. Women of the ELCA also launches a women’s health initiative in this triennium, "Raising Up Healthy Women and Girls," and Worship Boldly includes many liturgical resources relating to health, healing, and wholeness.

Worship BoldlyMany of the songs in Worship Boldly have been written within the last decade and are powerful forms of prayer and praise that resonate well with contemporary women of all generations. Of particular interest here is Susan Palo Cherwien’s hymn "Signs and Wonders Lead the Dancing," written especially for the 2005–2008 triennium.

This book contains many classic forms of worship and prayer that are based on traditional liturgies, namely Holy Communion, and daily prayer. Prayers, litanies, and occasional services are included and will be useful in a variety of ways during meetings and other events of Women of the ELCA.

The size of the book should be small enough to allow it to be used easily at meetings and in a variety of settings, like retreats and synodical conventions. Hopefully the reasonable cost of this volume will allow most congregational units to purchase a sufficient quantity for all participants.

Don’t delay in getting a copy of Worship Boldly. It will inspire and support you in this new triennium as you and others in this organization mobilize women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ.
