What have you
learned?
So, here
we are in the
final month
of our
"Listen, God
is Calling"
triennium.
Here are a
few of the
things I’ve
learned in
these last
three years.
-
Being called
by God is
something
that can lead
to radical,
far-reaching,
and
revolutionary
acts.
-
We must be
ready to
accept the
call God has
for us,
whatever the
challenges it
may bring.
-
We must
expect, too,
that the call
will bring
change to our
comfortable,
secure lives.
Facing change
means we will
leave the
comfort and
safety of
what we have
come to know
as normal.
-
We cannot
simply avoid
God's
messages to
us by
surrounding
ourselves
with noise
(or
busy-ness,
for that
matter)
because God
will still
find ways to
communicate
with us, in
spite of us.
-
We are
invited into
a new way of
life, and God
will support
us in it.
-
Launching out
into the
unknown
requires
courage and
trust, but
God sustains
us,
strengthens
us, moves us
forward.
-
We find
strength,
encouragement,
and
consolation
in the
community of
women that
surround us.
-
Acting upon
God's dreams
for the world
can put us in
conflict with
those ideals
our culture
holds dear.
-
We face great
joys in
responding to
God's call,
but we are
just as
likely to
also face
tough choices
and difficult
moments.
These are
among the
truths and
the learnings
that launch
us now into a
new
triennium,
the likely
outgrowth of
three years
of discerning
God’s call.
Take some
time today to
consider what
you’ve
learned in
the last
three years.
We will
continue to
listen to and
for God in
the next 36
months and
beyond, but
now we are
ready to act,
to act
boldly.
