Celebrating 20 years

The women's organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
(ELCA) will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2007–2008. For 20 years,
this community of women has committed itself to "grow in faith, affirm our
gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action,
and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the
world."*
While it's not one of those "big" anniversaries — like
the 25th, 50th, 75th, or 100th — we can't pass up
the opportunity to praise God for the multitude of blessings this
organization has received and has been privileged to pass on to others in
20 years.
If
you're one of the bold women who has been involved in Women of the ELCA
from "day one" — and even if you're relatively new to Women of the ELCA or
somewhere in between — you will want to join in the observance in a
variety of ways.
Browse through the anniversary pages to see how you can be involved,
read the brief history, scroll through the timeline of actions and
ministries in the past 20 years, support the anniversary projects, and
plan a celebration in your congregation. Then tell us what you
think is important for Women of the ELCA ministries in the
next 20 years.
Projects based on convention actions
The
projects chosen for special support through an anniversary offering
include
the ongoing ministries of Women of the ELCA and two
projects that reflect Triennial Convention action:
Augusta Victoria Hospital in Jerusalem and a Stand With Africa
water project.
More information on Women of the ELCA's efforts on
water conservation is available here.
Your involvement will help make history.
